ANELE NGCOYA: PHATENI LIBRARY AND LEARNING HUB

Anele leads the Phatheni Community Library & Learning Hub: a space born from a legacy of pain, resilience, and quiet triumph. Her current role involves supporting the transition of the Phatheni Library from a donor-funded initiative to a sustainable, community-owned model overseen by Emmanuel’s Wish Foundation.

She works with local volunteers and parents to run afterschool programmes (Grades 4–12), including homework support, literacy and numeracy foundations, and exam preparation.

Anele is currently designing the next phase of our program: a Youth Employment Training Hub that will teach typing, data entry, records management, and farming skills to young people aged 16–25.

She especially enjoys being the bridge between the strategic oversight provided by Emmanuel's Wish Foundation with on-the-ground community operations, because she is of the belief that charity may ignite socio-economic change, but sustainable development starts with ownership and accountability.
